Common questions

Which calculator tells me how many lots to trade?

The position size calculator answers that. Enter your account balance, the percentage you are willing to risk and your stop distance in pips, and it returns a lot size. For gold, 1 standard lot is 100 oz and one pip is 0.01, so check the pip value it uses against the pip value calculator.

How do I work out the margin a gold position ties up?

Use the margin calculator. It takes the lot size, the current XAU/USD price and the leverage your account is set to. As a reference, at 1:200 a 0.10-lot gold position needs about $85.50 margin. Margin is not your maximum loss; it is the collateral held while the trade is open.

What does the pip value calculator do for XAU/USD?

The pip value calculator converts a one-pip move into your account currency. For gold, one pip is 0.01, and 1 standard lot is 100 oz, so a pip is worth a fixed amount per lot. The result depends on your lot size and the currency conversion your account uses, so check both inputs.

When would I use the profit calculator instead of the pip value one?

Use the profit calculator when you want the dollar result of a full trade: entry, exit, lot size and direction. The pip value calculator only prices a single pip. Running both together shows whether the reward justifies the stop distance before you commit any margin to the position.

How do pivot points fit into a gold trading plan?

The pivot points calculator produces reference levels from the prior session's high, low and close. Traders use them to mark possible support and resistance, then set stops and targets around those levels. They are a planning aid, not a signal, and they depend on which session you choose as the source.
